1. The Marine Museum at Quantico, VA was an inspiration.
2. The Washington Monument was a backdrop for almost every monument in D.C.

The Tomb of the Unknown Solider and John Kennedy's grave were not the only impressive sites at Arlington Cemetery, the view from the Lee-Custis Home, Arlington House was breathtaking.  The words of Robert Kennedy, found at his gravesite,  were an inspiration.

The students enjoyed George Washington's home, Mount Vernon (left) and Thomas Jefferson's home Monticello (right).
