Annual Meeting, August 10, Celebrates 67 years of Commitment to Our Communities

On Thursday night, August 10, at the South Pittsburg Elementary School, Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative will celebrate its commitment to its membership and the communities we serve at the 67th Annual Meeting. Please note that this is a change in the date and location of our meeting from the information sent to you in the August Tennessee Magazine.

Each year, approximately 1,000 co-ops nationwide hold these important meetings to reflect on the past year's activities, to inform members about important issues and to provide members with information on the products and services that are available to them.

These meetings also reaffirm the key qualities that make the service that co-ops provide second to none.

First, your co-op is a local business that is part of your community. Because you own a part of the company, you have the opportunity to influence key decisions at the co-op through local leaders that represent your interests.

Second, people from your community who understand what is happening in the community, staff your co-op. Their closeness to you allows them to provide better service than employees in an office building a thousand miles away.

Third, co-ops across the country use high technology to deliver state-of-the-art service at the lowest possible price. Co-ops are making the improvements necessary to provide you with the higher level of service that today's modern technology requires.

Fourth, your co-op is working to improve energy efficiency to lower your monthly electric bills. In fact, this column carries helpful information that you can put to use to keep your electric bill as low as possible.

Finally, your electric co-op enhances your community's quality of life by performing even the smallest community service. Whether it is a line worker stopping to help a stranger change a flat tire or the co-op helping to prepare for a county fair our annual Senior Expo or one of our local festivals, these good deeds build a stronger sense of community in us all.

All these qualities work together to help make your electric co-op an important part of your local community. Every year, your co-op celebrates its commitment to the communities it serves by holding an annual meeting. Your participation will help make this year's 67th Annual Meeting celebration even better, so make plans to join us at the South Pittsburg Elementary School on August 10. Registration and refreshments will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the business meeting will commence at 6:00 p.m. Come and enjoy refreshments, learn about the business that you own and register to win a door prize.
