Got lint bunnies? Spring-clean the dryer
Haul out your rags, mops, cleaners, gloves and sweatbands, and you’ll be ready to start spring-cleaning! While you are at it, add your clothes dryer to your list of places to clean.

Cleaning your dryer’s lint trap after each use is a safe practice. But a yearly all-out lint cleaning is necessary to lengthen dryer life. Lint build-up not only makes the dryer work harder and decreases energy efficiency, but it also can pose a fire hazard.

Unplug the dryer before cleaning. Start with what you can see: remove the lint trap and vacuum any lingering dust under or behind the filter.

Next, find the access panel on the front or back of the dryer and clean the dryer housing. Removing a few screws should open it up and expose any lint within for vacuuming.

Finally, push the dryer away from the wall and remove the aluminum vent tube. Clean out the tube and vacuum any ducting in the wall.

Close the dryer up and re-attach all parts before plugging the machine back in. Making cleaning the dryer a permanent part of your yearly to-do list for safe efficient use.
