Graham Swafford, Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative’s (SVEC) District 3 (Jasper area) director was recently elected chairman of the board. The election was held during the re-organizational board of directors meeting held immediately following SVEC’s 68th Annual Meeting of the Membership, August 9. Swafford has represented District 3 on the board since 1985 and served as vice-chairman of the board from 1987 until 2005.
“Since 1939 Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative has been one of the most influential institutions in the SVEC service area, affecting more people than any other single entity in the area,” stated Swafford. “ Currently, the co-op serves over 34,000 members and maintains over 3,000 miles of line. I am honored by the vote of confidence I have received from the members of my district and from my fellow board members. The board and I will strive to remain ever true to the core values of our founders and to uphold the trust placed in us by the members of our cooperative.
