Angel Trees and Food Drives

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

In tough economic times neighbors reaching out to neighbors has always been a strength of our closely knit communities.

Each year since 1999, Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative has fostered that spirit of giving back to the community by placing Angel Trees in the lobbies of our local offices. These trees are decorated with the names of local children and nursing home residents whose families could use a little help making the Christmas season special.

That tradition continues this year. Angels will be available in each of our local offices in November. We ask that members take a name and purchase an age appropriate gift and/or clothing item for the individual and return it to our local office in a gift bag by December 5, to ensure delivery before Christmas.

SVEC has been sponsoring a Holiday Food Drive since 1996 to help supplement the local food banks during the busy Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. We will continue that tradition as well.

This year those members who either bring in 6 nonperishable food items or donate $5 to be given to the local food bank will receive, while supplies last, a pair of SVEC kitchen shears with magnetic sheath in appreciation of their donation.
