SVEC Relay for Life

"Relay For Life is a life-changing event
that helps communities
across the globe celebrate
the lives of people who have battled
cancer, remember loved ones lost,
and fight back against the disease."

Relay for Life is an organization that many SVEC employees are actively involved with, both as teams and individuals serving on county committees for Marion and Grundy Counties. Both Marion and Grundy teams participate in the annual relay event, usually in May or June each year, and fund raise throughout the year. Several here at SVEC have been touched by cancer, in their own life or the lives of family or dear friends, therefore it is a personal war that we wage by raising money to fight this disease. All monies from Relay for Life benefit the American Cancer Society.

The SVEC Marion County Relay for Life team, a "Gold Team" after raising over $5,000 for 2011, hosts an Annual Soup Luncheon and Silent Auction each year in December. This event accepts merchandise or service donations from individuals/businesses, and then auctions off all of the items graciously donated. While you wait and watch your bid you are welcome to warm up with a bowl of hot home-made soup and dessert. This year chances were sold on a beautiful quilt which was stitched and donated by The Stitchin' Sisters quilting guild of South Pittsburg. The winner of the quilt was Katherine Roberson from Jasper. Lynne Prigmore and Brooke Weeks display the quilt donated to Relay for Life by the Stichin' Sisters Quilting Guild
