SVEC School Programs
SVEC believes teaching our children electrical safety, basic energy efficiency and how an electric cooperative operates will better prepare them as future energy consumers and cooperative members. Cathy Black, SVEC Communications Specialist, coordinates programs specifically for every grade or age group to help them understand core principles of electricity. Elementary school children also enjoy a visit from the area's linemen, who bring their hard hats and tool belts for the children to try on and demonstrate how the bucket truck works. The children are guaranteed to have fun while learning!
Middle schools and high schools also benefit from more in-depth electricity lessons and career fair information on opportunities in the electric industry.
If you are a teacher or affliated with children's programs and would like to schedule SVEC to come into your classroom, please e-mail Cathy Black or call her at 423-837-5044.
